PSAT

"Preliminary SAT", as the name suggests, is the preliminary version of the SAT. It is taken by US students in freshmen and sophomore years (grade 9 and 10) to familiarize the students and assess their level before they take the real SAT in grade 11 or 12.

Unlike the SAT, there is no essay section that comes at the start of the exam.  The first 4 sections consist of maths and reading comprehension and might appear in varying sequence. The writing section always comes last.  Similar to the SAT, there is a penalty for each wrong answer (-0.25 point). The exam takes proximately 3 hours to complete.
